it seems to me that all the bandwidth wasted on critiquing Paul's
business model
could have been put towards rolling a Debian/Ubuntu package and making
it available somewhere
?
like Paul pointed out: you don't have to pay a cent for Ardour to use it
albeit I do wish it came pre-rolled as many other Linux audio apps do
so I don't have to go down a weekend length Linux dependency-hell rathole
as for manuals: there is an excellent manual here:
http://en.flossmanuals.net/ardour/
and another more detailed version in development by some of the members
on this list
as for comparisons to other audio software: I used to beta-test
Pro-Tools for Digidesign, tried to warm up to Cubase, used Studio Vision
for years and been a Max/MSP programmer for a decade or more...but I can
say without hesitation that Ardour is one of the best thought out pieces
of audio software I've ever used. Paul is doing hero's work and I don't
mind kicking him a few euros here and there when I can afford to.
if you want to see Ardour flourish then please please please consider
making a small donation?
