Just a thought: if they are on the same partition and Ardour
does a hard-link, then how are you validating that the files
are copies instead of links?

If you do an 'ls -l' what is the number after the permissions

Example:
- -rw-r--r-- 2 oracle dba 3717 May 14 16:12 brett1.log
           ^^^
What is this number? In my example, this is a hard-link to
another file, although it could appear to have a size of its
own, it truly doesn't take any additional space on the hdd.

Thanks
