[Ardour-Users] very big latencies..

Dear List,

While trying to record with ardour and using alsa with..
jackd -d alsa -C hw:1,0 -P hw:0,0 -n 3

Jack reports quite often (with an audible crack in the recording):

**** alsa_pcm: xrun of at least 1237148418179.072 msecs

Why do I get such enormous latencies?
Installing the realtime kernel might help?
.. but I don't think i need to reduce the latencies < ms,
I would just like to get rid of those big ones.
