For some distros, I know it from Suse, the repositories where the codecs
packages are, can cause conflicts with the packages of other
repositories. To handle codecs can become heavy-handed, if someone don't
know what he has to take care about. When working with codecs, it might
be helpful to read some codec install howtos.
