Hmmm...
1: Ardour was never intended to be a fully fledged sound editor.
2: It already has code to read the file as a softlink and embed it in a
session.
3. Add a config option that allows the user to set if ardour "refreshes
it's cache" everytime that a softlink file is updated externally.
4. Add some logic to automatically resize the sample waveform view if
the length changes.
5. Either leave it to the user to adjust the lengths of the samples
waveview if they are longer than the previous version in memory or add
another option to only adjust the length of a samples waveview if it is
shorter than the previous version in memory.
Seems like a reasonable task for a bounty. Might even be an original
feature that no other DAW's provide.
