[Ardour-Users] plugin automation editor logarithmic? possible to make it linear?

Even something as simple as an event/text editor for automation (i realise this is not at all trivial) would go a long way toward solving this problem..

I'm not clear on whether the raw automation points can be edited in the XML, and whether a reload of the file or just a hide-show of the automation lane would be required to update to the changed values.. is this practical? And is it a bad idea?
