I don't know which version is "this version" in your case, but i was once 
surprised by xrun storms when using JACK_START_SERVER=1. It turned out that 
the settings used by ardour didn't correspond with what i setup in qjackctl 
(RT, prio 80, etc).. So check these. Ardour offers a tab in the startup 
window when jack is not already running..
