I eagerly await the results of this "poll". Earlier this year I
had to replace my ABIT mobo with a Tyan unit while the ABIT was
being repaired. At the time I discovered that it's increasingly
difficult to find motherboards with more than two PCI slots
or more than one IDE header. Each of my M-Audio Delta 1010s
requires one PCI slot. All of my other PCI cards are then
useless. Many of my IDE hard drives are practically useless
given that one IDE header is enough for one hard drive and one
DVD drive. I'll solve the IDE problem by buying some external
enclosures and moving to SATA eventually.

As you're buying a NEW machine you'll get to experience the joy
of PCI Express of some flavor for your add-ons. It seems you're
already ready for SATA. I wonder whether you'll get to 24 tracks
with a tiny number of PCI cards or with firewire units.

G'luck....
