[Ardour-Users] fades on regions: line versus shaded area

Hello all,

I've noticed that sometimes when I put a fade-in or fade-out on a region, an
unshaded line appears, instead of a shaded fade area. When I play back, the
fade doesn't function.  It seems to only work when it's a shaded area.
What's going on?  Am I missing something here?

I can post an image if no one knows what I'm talking about.
