Hi All,

Thanks for asking... I've compiled all the questions and answered them below.

>have you done lots of overdubs in the same track? i.e. regions are
 >stacked on top of each other many times?

Tons of overdubs but no regions are stacked up on the same track and I regularly cleanup unused sources and flush the wastebasket

>What do you mean by "10 tracks ever played at once"? Is there only
 >audio regions on 10 of the tracks? Are the tracks mono or stereo?

The tracks are mono.
Most of the time (at this stage of production) 54 channels are muted.

>What filesystem, and how much space is left on the partition?
>Just post the output from mount and df (and note where the session is).

df -h:
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda2 29G 5.8G 22G 22% /
/dev/sda5 419G 141G 257G 36% /home
/dev/sda1 99M 45M 50M 48% /boot
tmpfs 997M 0 997M 0% /dev/shm

OS is on / (obviously)
The Ardour session is on /home

>What's the sample rate? If it's 92kHz there's no chance of a single

I forgot to mention that. The sample rate is 96kHz

>Back when I was facing this issue someone on this list suggested that

>but doesn't read them during playback. That completely solved my
 >problem, and could very likely solve yours since you only want 10
 >tracks at once.

Thanks. That sounds like a good idea at this stage... but I will at some point want to play all the tracks.
