Ardour seems to be a lot stabler indeed! Playing a loop range with jack 
as time master doesn't crash ardour anymore (it still doesn't work, but 
that's an other story)...

As soon as Ardour gets full midi support (recording, playback, editing) 
and replaces my windows-based DAW, you can expect a new Paypal subscriber!
