I'm not sure what you did, but if you just run the .pkg file that is
in the downloaded archive it will automatically install the plugins
into /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/LADSPA  which is where ardour expects
them.  Alternatively, they could be put into your home directory under
~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/LADSPA
