Are you sure Jacklab was to give you a patched/modified kernel?  Normally, 
that requires that the patches be inserted into the kernel source tree, 
chaning whatever kernel configuration settings that need to be changed, 
then recompiling, installing the new kernel and rebooting, using that new 
kernel.

I'm assuming your version of OpenSuSE is built on a 2.6 kernel.  Some of 
the real-time kernel options needed may already be folded into your kernel 
tree, but need to be enabled and compiled into the kernel to be active.

If you're seeing dropouts on playback, is your machine doing anything else 
that could be disk-intensive at the same time?
