On my iBook G4/MacOS 10.4.4 it aborts this way: (output from
Console.app)

-------------------------------------------------
Ardour/GTK 2.0alpha1
(built using 1.0.2 with libardour 1.0.0 and GCC version 4.0.0
(Apple Computer, Inc. build 5026))

(ardour:6960): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: g_object_set_property: object
class `GtkSettings' has no property named `gtk-can-change-accels'

(ardour:6960): Pango-WARNING **: No builtin or dynamically loaded
modules
were found. Pango will not work correctly. This probably means
there was an error in the creation of:
   '/opt/local/etc/pango/pango.modules'
You may be able to recreate this file by running pango-querymodules.

(ardour:6960): Pango-CRITICAL **: _pango_engine_shape_shape:
assertion `PANGO_IS_FONT (font)' failed

Pango-ERROR **: file shape.c: line 75 (pango_shape): assertion
failed: (glyphs->num_glyphs > 0)
aborting...
---------------------------------------------
Do I miss some requirements or? (I understand that pango is included
in the app?)

Then on my eMacG4/10.4.4:
---------------------------------------------
bash: no job control in this shell
dyld: Library not loaded: /usr/X11R6/lib/libXinerama.1.dylib
