Has anyone gotten 'alt' keyboard commands in OS 10.4+ to work?
control, shift, command all work... but alt commands do not. I poked
around and found this advice online, but it didn't work for me:

Is there an easy way to map the left "alt" key to "meta" key in Mac OS
X Tiger,  X11 (in full-screen mode)? Try: defaults write com.apple.x11
swap_alt_meta -bool true

Have any Tiger users had any luck with the alt key?
