Xjadeo probably runs just as well as an external device would.  If I  
get a spare hour or two this weekend, I plan to see if I can put it  
together at home, even if I don't actually do any work on the rig.

VVTR is great... but it's not nec.  It offers alot of other functions  
besides simple playback of video.
