I've installed Ardour without any major hitches for some time now.
However, I can't seem to get the 0.9beta30 release installed on my
system. This is the error message I'm getting while building...

cd libs/gtkmm && sh ./autogen.sh
aclocal:configure.ac:166: warning: macro `AM_PATH_GTK' not found in
library
configure.ac: installing `./install-sh'
configure.ac: installing `./missing'
gdk--/gdk--/Makefile.am: installing `./depcomp'
configure.ac:93: installing `./config.guess'
configure.ac:93: installing `./config.sub'
Makefile.am: installing `./INSTALL'
Makefile.am: installing `./COPYING'
configure.ac:162: error: possibly undefined macro: AM_PATH_GTK
      If this token and others are legitimate, please use
m4_pattern_allow.
      See the Autoconf documentation.
scons: *** [libs/gtkmm/config.h.in] Error 1
scons: building terminated because of errors.
