Yes, imho that would be best for both worlds (pro-gimp-100 and
anti-gimp-100 ;) )...
I searched a little for that, and found about GtkHandleBox on:

http://developer.gnome.org/doc/API/2.0/gtk/GtkHandleBox.html

But since I'm not into programming gtk (or anything else to be honest),
I'm not sure this has to do with actually detaching portons of windows
to create new ones; if that's what it means then it could be great
either for 23" screens or 12,1" screens.... but of course that depends
on easyness of implementation (if at all possible)...
