So anything I tried in terms of getting rid of prefs or reinstalling  
software did nothing.
Creating a new user in Account prefs saved the day .
Now would anybody no why that is?

To recap:
I started having major problems with Ardour again after using a utility
to optimize my system.
It wouldn't start, the interface was completely screwed up even IF I  
got Ardour started up.
