Hi,

no reason to do a complete reinistall of Fedora or Gentoo if you are
happy with Debian. The Agnula/Demudi packages include Jack and Ardour,
and should be merged into the Testing branch of Debian. Try adding

deb http://apt.agnula.org/demudi testing main local extra

to your /etc/apt.sources list, then you can install Ardour and Jack from
there. You could get the whole collection of apps, including an
audio-optimized low-latency kernel, by issuing a

apt-get install demudi-install demudi-base

etc etc.

I have some notes on my own experience with a DeMuDi install here:

http://umatic.nl/workshop/demudi_install.txt

Pay special attention to the video drivers section if that's important
to you.

More info on Demudi can be found here:

http://www.agnula.org/download/demudi/demudi_1_2_0_iso

good luck,
d.
