A fellow named Mike Stavrou (http://www.mixingwithyourmind.com/) has
designed an absolutely outstanding control surface for music
production (www.smartav.net - I lust after this) and they say in the
magazine article review that they have a open SDK and are keen to have
interfaces to DAW software like ardour developed.

I think Mike Stavrou was an apprentice to Sir George Martin - who
recorded the beetles, I've spoken to him (once) and he is very
approachable.
