[ardour-users] gain, how to activate

Hi I am running Ardour 9.11 on Suse prof 9.0 ..it works fine however I sort of make my way trough the system vai trail and error.  question:

a)How do I activate the gaine curve I put into a track 

b) is there , other then the userdoc (pfd) a write up as to to how to use it?
