Thanks Wolfgang, seems to be working now. I used bison-1.85. But I also
had to re-extract the src fresh and start over. "make clean" and
running configure again still left me with the same flex related error.

Another question- is there a configure option for disabling lib-fst
support ? I don't want to run any of that at the moment.
