[ardour-users] H/W vs S/W monitoring

I have a quick question. I am using h/w monitoring via my delta 1010-LT
card. Unfortunately, I get no levels in ardour unless I either 1) start
recording or 2) turn on software monitoring. Am I missing something? Is
there another way of getting a level without turning on software
monitoring?
