[Ardour-Dev] Building Ardour 5.9 from git: No complaints!

Hi all,

some people have kindly responded to my post. Here is an attempt to
answer some of the issues.

* What is my build environment?

Ryzen 7, Asus X-370 Pro, Fedora 27 Workstation with current kernel (4.13
or 4.14 if memory serves), clang 5 and whatever gcc/g++ they're shipping
these days. (I attempted to use the PlanetCCRMA realtime kernel, but
that didn't work for reasons that I don't yet fully understand, so I'm
using the vanilla kernel so far.)

* Why did I use 5.9?

I could have sworn that the download page for the Linux tarball said
5.9, but looking again, it clearly says 5.12, so I must admit that I
have no idea where I got the "5.9" from. Sorry.

I have now upgraded to 5.12 and the compilation was equally hassle-free
and the compiled result is equally working :-)

* Does it compile with clang?

Yes. My mistake was to use CXX=clang instead of CXX=clang++. Again, sorry.

However, if I understand correctly, clang is not used for production
use, as most people compile with gcc/c++. Is that correct?

Cheers,

Stephan
