i should also note that many of the possible improvements to this and
the build-ardour-stack scripts essentially mean reinventing jhbuild.

i wasn't trying to do that. jhbuild is a fine tool, and certainly
would have been usable for this in combination with our own moduleset
definition i had very slightly different goals, in particular no
patching of anything except GTK, and a single self-contained script.

one particularly stupid thing, for example, is the repetition of the
specific versions of all the packages throught the script.
