When I wrote 'same here' that is exactly what I meant. Every time I tried
to get something non-trivial done with an IDE it turned into a waste of
lots of time (in all cases paid by my employer) and lots of frustration.
This has nothing to do with Windows vs. Linux preferences.
Last time I tried this it resulted in three months of the commercial IDE's
local distributor, the supplier, and the guys who maintain it passing the
hot patatos between themselves while a 10 megadollar project got delayed by
the same time.
John's trouble is just one more example. Ardour is a complex piece of code,
but the first time I tried to build it by typing 'make' in a terminal (this
was before scons times) _it just worked_ (after installing all the dependen-
cies - that's another story). I don't see the point in trying to do it in
any other way.
Follie! Follie! Delirio vano è questo !
