Ardour MTC master is much better than Ardour MTC
slave. I'm not seeing any stuttering. With an AW4416
as MTC slave Ardour position = 00:06:43:16 while the
AW4416 is 00:06:44:02:24. That difference is pretty
consistent from what I can see.

Unfortunately Ardour MTC master is not the solution
for my project. At least not without some screwing
around. I have a SMPTE track from a video camera
printed onto an AW4416. I've got corresponding video
footage in sync with jack_transport via xjadeo.

I'll shoot the audio including smpte into Ardour,
manually sync audio to video. Produce the final dialog
mix and maybe never use the SMPTE despite keeping it
in tact. I might need to go back to the DV tape but at
that time I can route the smpte to a consol, to an
analog output and into the DV deck.

Well, there's shortcoming in this strategy but we'll
see what happens.

PROJECT
The video is an artist with hired musicians, engineers
and producers. The music production is done in Ardour.
Of course! But several people involved in the
production are wearing wireless lav mics. All the
dialog between us is is recorded to the AW4416 and it
syncs with the video. This material is a video
supplement to a book about audio engineering.
