[ardour-dev] Ardour tarball visually unusable after installation - now with a crash!!

i just moved ~/.ardour to ~/.fooardour, and started ardour running.
ardour recreated ~/.ardour, populated it and reported:

  Loading UI configuration file /usr/local/etc/ardour/ardour_ui.rc
  Loading system configuration file /usr/local/etc/ardour/ardour_system.rc
  Loading user configuration file /home/paul/.ardour/ardour.rc

the colors were wrong (because the code base now requires canvas
colors to be defined in the ardour_ui.rc file, and the versions
present in /usr/local/etc on my system do not do this. but ardour did
not crash or complain or do any of the things you reported.
