Thanks for all the help so far! Just checked rtirq, on all the computers the
soundcards were on the second highest priority (70) and IRQ 8 had the
highest. The soundcards were on IRQ 10.

Anything else to look for?

It is (ahem, should be :-)
It uses the rtirq script that Rui Nuno Capela wrote. 
Anyway, if there are problems with latency and/or timing I would first
check that priorities are being ordered correctly (run
/etc/rc.d/init.d/rtirq status to know the current status).
