A ctrl-middle click on solo (or mute, or panner, or rec-enable) brings up 
the message
    [INFO]: No MIDI port specified - external control disabled.

This same thing happens if I right-click and choose MIDI bind.
ardour/gtk 0.575.4    libardour 0.874.0

Binding a fader to a fader works fine.
