tiny. basically insignificant.

tens of thousands. currently on the order of 200 per day from
ardour.org alone, and more from each Linux distribution download
system. there is, of course, no way to know how many are actually
used. a reasonable guess might be 1-5%.

closest i've heard of is stereolab (UK) using ardour to track a couple
of their albums. and of course, Ron Parker's Mirror Image studio in
Minneapolis, which was featured in Sound on Sound last year, is doing
commercial recording with Ardour on a daily basis. See:
