[ardour-dev] Midi device monitoring

What I need is an effective way to monitor what midi device is what /dev/snd/midi***  & hw:0:**and be able to "see" midi data flow as in the fantastic app Midiox for windows. It's a great tool for quick diagnostic work.. especially when you have mutiple devices/ports. I don't suppose there is such a thing ( I have asked a few times before.. no replies.) Ardour seemed to have got some devices mixed up this morning and was sending MTC out thru another midi-port. It's a shame that there isn't some kind of midi monitor in Ardour maybe Paul ? Just a couple of "leds" somewhere ? 
 Maybe this is what is happening for you Third Option ?
