It would be great if you could run it through gdb.  There should be a script in gtk_ardour/, ardbg.  That will start gdb with the proper parameters.  Then, when ardour has segfaulted, run "thread apply all bt" in gdb.  Post the output to the mailing list or to mantis.  Or both :).

The 2 previous versions of ardour I've tried seg faulted from time to time, 
this one does it any time I touch plugins or sends. Does Ardour generate any 
kind of log for this, or do I need to run it in gdb and post the stack dump 
in order to provide useful debugging info?
